austriamicrosystems to be included in SIX Swiss Exchange’s SPI® Middle index basket of larger SPI® companies

Inclusion in SPI® Middle index basket becomes effective September 19, 2011

Unterpremstaetten, Austria (July 21, 2011) — austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of high performance analog ICs for consumer, communications, industrial, medical and automotive applications, will be reclassified within the SPI® Swiss Performance Index family from the SPI® Small to the SPI® Middle index basket according to a recent announcement by SIX Swiss Exchange.

This change reflects the capital increase related to the recently completed acquisition of Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions, Inc. ("TAOS") and will become effective September 19, 2011 as part of SIX Swiss Exchange ordinary index review and adjustments. The SPI® is Switzerland's most closely followed overall market index offering the three sub-baskets SPI® Large, SPI® Middle and SPI® Small based on market capitalization.

“We are excited about the decision by SIX Swiss Exchange to include austriamicrosystems in the SPI® Middle index basket following the successful transaction to acquire TAOS, a global leader in light sensor solutions. The inclusion in the SPI® Middle index basket upgrades austriamicrosystems to the Top 100 SPI® companies by market capitalization and means a further increase in our visibility and presence in the international financial markets”, commented John Heugle, CEO of austriamicrosystems.
