austriamicrosystems wins prestigious Elektra European Electronics Industry award for Analog Semiconductor Product of the Year
Judges recognize the technical excellence and outstanding linear/angular measurement performance of the AS540x series of 3D Hall encoders
Unterpremstaetten, Austria (December 21, 2011) — austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS), a leading worldwide designer and manufacturer of high performance analog ICs for consumer & communications, industry & medical and automotive applications, has won the prestigious Elektra European Electronics Industry award for Analogue Semiconductor Product of the Year for its AS540x series of 3D Hall encoders.
The award was presented to austriamicrosystems in front of more than 500 representatives of the European Electronics Industry at a gala ceremony in London. It is the second time in three years that austriamicrosystems has won an Elektra award.
The judging panel was impressed by the technical innovations in the design of the AS540x, the extreme accuracy and precision of its linear and angular position measurements, and the scope it gives design engineers to address previously unsolved sensing problems in industrial and automotive applications.
The AS540x series of 3D Hall encoders enables the first true three-axis differential measurement of a magnetic field, enabling absolute linear measurements, and off-/on-axis and three-dimensional tilt sensor applications. The new three-dimensional Hall element in the AS540x is able to provide absolute and ultra-high-resolution angular or linear output data.
“The award of Analog Semiconductor Product of the Year for the AS540x is a moment of pride for austriamicrosystems,” said John Heugle, CEO of austriamicrosystems. “It is a reflection of our absolute commitment to the design and manufacturing of the highest-performance analog devices. austriamicrosystems’ engineers are focused on solving the most challenging analog design problems, and the AS540x is just one of many examples of austriamicrosystems products that set new standards in the analog domain.”
