austriamicrosystems, a high performance analog leader, and light sensor industry pioneer TAOS expand presence in Silicon Valley
Opening new office in Cupertino featuring a customer engineering facility
November 9, 2011 (Cupertino, CA) — Silicon Valley will be the newest location opened by the recently combined austriamicrosystems (Unterpremstatten, Austria), a leading global designer and manufacturer of high-performance analog ICs for consumer, communications, industry & medical and automotive applications, and TAOS (Plano, Texas), a world leader in advanced light sensors. The Cupertino location will be the site for a growing staff of field sales and application engineers to support the expanding business in Northern California.
This new location will include a customer engineering facility that will help provide local application support and accelerated turnaround times to area customers in the design and debugging of their leading-edge systems.
"This is just the beginning of the U.S. expansion for our combined company," said Kirk Laney, president of TAOS and general manager of austriamicrosystems’ Optosensors & Mobile Lighting business unit. "Opening this location in Silicon Valley underscores our commitment to provide our customers with superior local support on the biggest technology stage in the world. With this new facility, our on-site sales and technical staff will be able to respond much more rapidly to technical support requirements – an important benefit for our West Coast customers"
The combined company brings together complementary leadership capabilities in the areas of high performance analog design, power management, intelligent sensors and sensor interfaces that are critical core competencies for developing future generations of advanced, intelligent or "smart" wireless/wired sensor platforms. Further synergies will be achieved by leveraging austriamicrosystems’ world-class manufacturing and process technologies to develop leading-edge Sensor Systems-on-Chip (SSoC) solutions.
Building on its extensive sensor expertise, the combined company is uniquely positioned to expand its leadership position in the smartphone and tablet markets through the development of innovative sensor technologies for future mobile devices.
The Cupertino office complements the austriamicrosystems and TAOS combination by expanding the company’s U.S. presence. It will be the company’s third U.S. location, joining offices in Raleigh, NC and Plano, TX. The company also recently opened
